The Lakes

Below is information on the closest lakes accessible by boat from our Resort.

Cass Lake

The Cass Lake, just northeast of the City of Cass Lake is the largest of the eight lakes that make up the Cass Lake Chain of Lakes and the eighth largest lake in Minnesota. The scenery is incredible on the 15,596-acre lake with 26.9 miles of forested shoreline and sandy beaches and plunging to 120 feet deep in areas. This lake always ends up on someone’s list of great fishing places in Minnesota. Cass Lake offers fine populations of Walleye, Northern Pike, and Perch. It is also coveted by Muskie anglers. Cass Lake is second only to Leech Lake in the number of Muskies caught annually. Many of these trophies top the 40-pound mark. Whether you are after that one trophy Muskie or a mess of Perch, Cass Lake’s maze of steep drop-offs, mid-lake bars, and sunken islands are sure to be holding just what you have been dreaming of.

The Mississippi flows through the eight lakes in the Cass Lake Chain of Lakes, located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest and can be travelled by boat. The lakes include Big Wolf Lake, Lake Andrusia, Cass Lake, Pike Bay, Buck Lake, Kitchi Lake, Little Rice Lake, and Big Rice Lake. Other lakes in the area include Big Lake, Little Wolf Lake, Pimushe Lake, Moose Lake and many smaller lakes. To the east of the Chain, you will find Lake Winnibigoshish and to the south is Leech Lake. The breathtaking beauty of the Chippewa National Forest, crystal clear waters, sugar sand beaches, and an abundance of wildlife surround these lakes in a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.
